Process, as a writer, is a tough nut to crack.
Being an author is not a career with a clear path. You can go to college to get a Masters in Creative Writing, but even that still won’t make you an author.
I think that finding your own process, figuring out what works for you, is the only way to push forward. I know by now that I need to plot things out by hand, on big sheets of paper, as in the above photo. But I also know that I then draft a sort best by typing, never longhand, referring back to the paper as needs be.
Discovering your process also insulates us, I feel, against those huge, hopeless events going on in the world, as they have always gone on. What’s your process?
