One word at a time, is my answer to that! People often think that being an author also means you need a Degree in English or a Masters in Creative Writing, ‘know someone’ high up in publishing, win awards, or somehow selling your soul.
When really, it’s most important to be a good storyteller. If you can capture your reader’s attention, take them away from the mundane, make them care about your characters… that’s what a reader truly wants. Working on storytelling, learning the theory, putting it into practice by writing, writing, writing – that’s the key foundation to being an author.
How to get published, though, is another question for another time!
